      I've thought about this a number of times. Most regularly overlay gravel and aggregate to cover old working areas, but yes the amount of plastic dust and chemicals on the ground must be awful. I presume the work for adding active drainage etc would make any boatyards unviable.

    I mentioned this before, but vertical boards do not dampen roll. Smaller boards aft into the quarter wake set at 30 degrees or so would be more efficient and less work. RUclipsrs gotta make content i guess, and everyone likes a disaster. Next project, flopper-stoppers.

      @@AlexHibbertOriginals No offence, but many youtubers ignore good advice and learned lessons, followed by "we,re fu*ked" video. Granted you might not read every comment, but even simple logic would say vertical boards mounted on the beam, will swing through a lesser arc than one mounted central, and so less efficient, though i do understand why you do not have a central board. Given your otherwise impressive prep work, why you went down this particular road is lost on me. But I wish you every success in your endeavours and voyage. To be fair, anything other than well spread "para-vanes" will not be effective on such a hull shape, there is no cheating the laws of Archimedes.

    • @AlexHibbertOriginals
      @AlexHibbertOriginals 3 дня назад

      I've stated pretty clearly a number of times that I do read comments, and that sometimes commenters won't get their advice instantly adhered to, especially when other experienced people are just as certain of a counter-point. I showed a long article on anti-roll during the earlier design justifications for this plan, and it stated categorically that leeboard type installs will have a roll slowing effect, which can add a little comfort at the price of a little stability. The straight down boards are a first test. I'm asking a pro to do the calcs on having modular, curved boards made that can achieve a better angle, and with a certain degree of flex to reduce jerking motion. If all this means you get a kick out of a hypothetical later 'we're f**ked' video, that's not something I'm going to invest much time in.

    • @skaraborgcraft
      @skaraborgcraft 2 дня назад

      @@AlexHibbertOriginals I avoid all videos with clickbait disaster titles, especially those channels that have received good advice, and gone on to ignore it. However, given your lifeboat has a high metacentric value, i fear this particular effort at roll reduction will not be as efficient as some other options. Apologies if my well intended advice has been mistakenly taken for mocking your efforts, or you are preparing your audience for a later "could have been avoided" calamity. Sadly youtube has become a Mecca for a new type of internet pan-handling to the point people throw themselves out of perfectly good airplanes which crashes, just for clicks. Im happy to see you are NOT that guy. You can always bolt or weld an endplate on the bottom edge of your boards to increase roll resistance, its the difference between diving into the water and a belly-flop.

    Enjoyed watching you motor past my home coastline. Would love to see you add an anchor line chafe solution to the project list.

      Chafe solution for what part? I'm getting chafe sleeves for Alan's mooring lines.

      Luckily I have a kitchen, bed, and shower at home in London. Yet, no wood panelling.
